What is the ctrl key?
A physical key for your screen time. In the app you choose which apps can no longer pull you in — and only a tap with your ctrl key unlocks them again. The barrier is physical. That's exactly why it works.
Do I need the app?
Yes. The key is the physical half, the back to ctrl app is the digital one. The app launches on iPhone — you lock and unlock your chosen apps with a tap.
Which phones does it work with?
Every iPhone since the XR/XS (2018) — practically any iPhone with NFC. Just hold the key to the back of your phone. An Android version of the app is planned.
Does the key need a battery or charging?
No. The ctrl key is a passive NFC key — no battery, no charging, no Bluetooth, no updates. It will work the same in ten years as on day one.
Can't I just cheat?
The point isn't making cheating impossible — it's making it inconvenient. The feed lives off the reflex grab for your phone. Put one physical step between you and the reflex, and suddenly your head decides instead of your thumb. Bonus move: leave the key at home when you go out — the decision is already made.
What if I lose my key?
You can still get back into your apps — through a deliberately slow emergency path in the app (so the barrier stays real). Replacement keys can be ordered.
What does the number on my key mean?
Every key of the first run carries an engraved number — 001 to 500. Not a marketing gimmick: it's a limited first edition, and your number stays yours.
How fast is shipping?
Shipped from Germany with tracking — usually 2–4 working days within Germany. EU shipping is available; you'll see the exact options at checkout.
Can I return the key?
Yes — the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal applies from the day you receive it, no reasons needed. Details in our terms.
What data do you collect?
As little as possible. The website uses no tracking cookies, and your screen-time data belongs to you. What we process and why is laid out in our privacy policy.
Is there a warranty?
The statutory two-year warranty applies. And since the key has no electronics that can die — no battery, no display — there is very little that can break in the first place.
